The new national standard is “self-adhesive plastic wrap for food”. Compared with the 1989 edition standard, the new standard stipulates that PVC and PVDC food wrap films are included for the first time in addition to PE cling film. The new national standard has increased the technical requirements for raw materials. The resin required for use must be “food grade” raw materials; PVC cling film should be marked with “warm-free food” and “no microwave heating” on the packaging; If the plastic wrap is declared to be heated by a microwave oven, it should be marked with "can be used in microwave ovens", heating method and maximum temperature resistance, etc., otherwise sales are strictly prohibited.
At the same time, the plastic wrap packaging should be marked with the material or type of product, oxygen transmission rate, carbon dioxide transmission rate, moisture permeability and so on. In addition to the length and width, the manufacturer should clearly mark the thickness and net weight of the wrap film on the package, and change the length deviation in the original standard to the net roll weight limit deviation to avoid shortness.

The most common PE and PVC on the market, the melting temperature is 127 ° C and 120 ° C, respectively, while the temperature in the microwave oven is often as high as 200 ° C -300 ° C, the plastic wrap is easy to melt into the food.
The difference is that PE is relatively safe in the melted material because it does not contain any plasticizer in the production. PVC itself is a kind of hard plastic. To pull it into a transparent and soft plastic wrap, a large amount of plasticizer is needed. Although PVC itself is non-toxic and harmless, plasticizers have harmful substances and may cause diseases. Therefore, PVC cannot be heated by microwaves and cannot be packaged for cooked food.
In addition, PVC does not come into contact with fatty foods. The plasticizer DEHA can be released and infiltrated into food at room temperature, especially in foods with higher fat content.
